A year ago, I was looking for a queen size bed and couldn't find anything I liked. I wanted something minimal, unique, and low to the ground. So I designed and built this bed frame which uses only cotton rope and wood.
The slats are premium birch and are "stitched" onto the side douglas fir pieces with 1/2" thick cotton rope, so the bed uses no metal hardware at all. The corners of the bed have a loop of rope so you can easily lift and move it around the room. I have extra pieces that run down the middle of the bed for added support. You can disassemble it in less than 15 minutes and pack it into a car. Reassembly takes about half an hour.
I've used this bed and mattress since January, so they are less than a year old. The queen mattress is a Tuft and Needle foam mattress, the highest rated foam mattress on Amazon, and made right here in Los Angeles. I've used a mattress protector the entire time I've owned the bed, so it is very clean.
